The festivals in Labrang Monastery are hosted according to the lunar calendar which falls roughly a month after the west calendar. Below is the schedule in Lunar calendar:
1. The Maulam Dhahma in the first Lunar Moon : A,8th day — Free Captive Animals; B, 13th day — Buddha Sunny Bath; C: 14th day — Pray Dancing ; D: 15th day, Offering Candles to the Buddha in the evening; E: Khyungpo Buddha Pilgrimage , ( empty pray for everything)
2. Dharma Assembly : the 4th day to the 8th day in the second Lunar Moon
3. Shakyamuni Birth Day Celebration . The 15th day of the 4 Lunar Moon. Pilgrimage around Lanbrang Monastery without eating, talking, only prostrate turn the pray wheels around the outline of Labrang Monastery.
4. Monastery Opera in Labrang: the 8th day of the 7 Lunar Moon.
5. Monastery Pray Dance : the 29th day of the 9th Lunar Moon, hosted by Vagra college.
6. Lantern Offering Festival: 25th day of the 10 Lunar Moon, to celebrate Tsongkhapa’s birthday.
7. The Nirvana Day of Jamyang Zhepa through the ages : a. 5th day of the 2nd Lunar Moon, 1st Jamyang; b. 22nd of the 2th Lunar moon, the 4th Jamyang; c, 23th day of 2nd Lunar Moon, the 5th Jamyang; 6th day of the 9th. Lunar Moon, the 6th. Lunar Moon, the 6th Jamyang.
